One of the strong trends in content in the social network or blogging market is collaborative content. Snapchat wants to take this growing trend forward by launching a new feature. Called “Shared Stories”, it makes it easy to share Snaps, and therefore increase engagement…
The basic version of the feature allows you to add friends to view and contribute to your stories. However, this new version “Shared Stories” goes further by allowing added friends to add their own contacts.
According to Snapchat:
“Shared Stories is a new iteration of Custom Stories, a product that previously allowed Snapchatters to create a story and add friends to view and contribute. Now, with our new and improved Shared Stories, Added to Groups Snapchatters can also add your friends, making it easier to enjoy the entire soccer team, camp team, or group of new coworkers.”
Like classic stories, those that are shared will only appear for 24 hours before disappearing. Unlike other features, it does not allow chatting and therefore sends massages immediately as it is assumed that not all participants know each other.
When it comes to security, the app uses automatic language detection along with review tools for additional monitoring and making sure they’re all secure.
According to Snapchat:
“This gives Snapchatters the ability to leave a shared story and ensures that Snapchatters have complete control over who they share content with on our platform.”
The app also sends a notification when a user joins a story shared with someone already blocked. Thus it will be possible to leave the story for those who do not want to share part of their life with these users.
Similar functionality on other apps?
Shared stories can lead to more content creation and engagement on Snapchat. Collaborative content has been a big part of the social media landscape since the meteoric rise of TikTok, so it’s hardly surprising now that Instagram, for example, is testing video reactions to reels — a feature that Which has been on Tiktok for a long time.
But Instagram has already gone a step ahead of Snapchat when it comes to collaborative content. The social network already offers co-authoring functionality, for example, which Twitter has also taken over. In addition, he is working on a collaborative design project, Boards. It is also unlikely that Instagram will sooner or later release a feature similar to shared stories.
Stories in all their forms have the power to inspire us. Powerful stories engage our emotions, a linkage lever of content marketing, creating mystery and resolution.
In terms of marketing, this kind of social media content helps in storytelling while engaging with the audience on an emotional level.
Given its power, it is no longer surprising that the stories have taken the internet by storm. They immediately form an emotional connection with their target, a leading indicator of future customer value and an important driver of brand loyalty.
Given their power to not only elicit emotional feedback, but also to inform, persuade, and promote support, they have become powerful tools for content marketing professionals.
To build engagement, don’t hesitate to test out the new features the social network has to offer. Given their potential, “shared stories” could foster greater creation and engagement in the app.
