Snapchat is developing Remix, a feature similar to TikTok Duets

It is common to find videos on TikTok where users perform duets using videos already available from other users, finding us dancing with curious and funny situations…

What is a “remix”?

Facing the success of this TikTok feature, the mobile application is working on new designs for new creative situations. But these main competitors also intend to profit from this success. Snapchat has actually announced a similar feature called “Remix.”

Invented by Alessandro Paluzzi, Remix wants users to be able to respond to their friends’ snaps by reusing those snaps with their own videos on the same screen.

Snapchat is already testing this feature as is Instagram, with a similar feature available in public testing.

In the case of Instagram, the company explains that Remix allows anyone to create an Instagram reel where you and their video are played side-by-side. It’s basically Instagram’s version of TikTok Duets itself, a tool often used to interact with other TikTok users’ content. In duets, TikTok users can:

  • sing, dance, joke or play with another user’s video;
  • cook someone else’s recipe;
  • Record reaction video;
  • Boost videos from lesser-known creators and more.

Snapchat Remix will thus provide users with multiple layout or template options to combine snaps. It should be added that the function will also have its own dynamics so that users can determine who can and cannot use their snaps for remixes, as in TikTok permissions.

Initially, the feature would allow users to reply to a friend’s story with a remixed Snap. You can do this by saving your own Snap with the original while playing it, much like a TikTok duet.

Tiktok has become a mirror of the social network

It would only be a matter of time before remix tests spread among Snapchat users, and logically could even reach Spotlight, which is a really competitive feature on TikTok on Snapchat.

It’s clear that TikTok has become the mirror some rivals look to when it comes to enhancing the creative possibilities of its users, who need more options to build their videos to reach their friends and, where appropriate, the general public. Is required. ,

Either way, TikTok and Snapchat are two social networks that have exploded in popularity in recent years. While Snapchat has 210 million daily users worldwide, TikTok reached 1 billion users in September 2021.

If TikTok is so successful and other mobile apps are copying some of its features, it’s because it shares music, humor, dance and more in creative and viral ways. Its “for you” feed is generated by AI algorithms that learn what you like. So it’s refreshing to have a platform with an algorithm that rewards content first and foremost.

Tiktok has indeed proved that ‘Remix’ is the future of Srishti. It makes compelling content accessible to more people, and every trending remix on TikTok’s platform only drives more people to create content. While the original material is powerful, remixing gives ordinary people the power to overlay context and self-expression and share it. So, to explore, not to increase your sales, but to show the personality of your business.
