The official ChatGPT mobile app continues to expand worldwide! A week after launching the iOS version of ChatGPT in the US, OpenAI LP has expanded the app’s availability to 11 more countries …
In mid-May, OpenAI first launched its ChatGPT iOS app in the United States. Now it has followed through on its promise to expand to more countries in the “coming weeks” by launching it in 11 new countries.
As revealed in this tweet, iOS users in Albania, Croatia, France, Germany, Ireland, Jamaica, Korea, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Nigeria, and the United Kingdom are now able to access the app.
In the first six days since its launch in the US, the app has already crossed half a million downloads, according to new analysis from app intelligence provider data.ai.
Although only available for one week, ChatGPT already ranks in the top five AI chatbot apps by downloads in the US as of May 2023.
Why is the ChatGPT app so attractive?
In its blog post, the OpenIA company said:
“With the ChatGPT app for iOS, we’re taking another step toward our mission of turning cutting-edge research into useful tools that empower people while making them ever more accessible.”
OpenAI also said that users of the iOS app will have instant access to answers without any ads. A great source of personalized advice on a variety of topics! Furthermore, the app can be a source of creative inspiration for many, as well as a tool that can increase productivity.
OpenAI didn’t indicate that a mobile app was coming, but it makes sense given the incredible popularity of ChatGPT. The AI chatbot was launched last November, but its use has exploded. Some outside estimates suggest that the app attracted 100 million users in January of this year, although OpenAI has never confirmed those numbers.
The ChatGPT app works and looks like a website with chat history synced between computer and iPhone. But compared to the website, it has a new feature that allows users to use voice input via OpenAI’s Whisper voice recognition.
The app also works on both iPhone and iPad and can be downloaded from the App Store here. For now, it’s formatted for iPhone only, so iPad users still need the desktop version.
What about the paid version? The new app includes the option to pay for the premium version of ChatGPT with additional features. ChatGPT Plus customers can access GPT-4 virtually through the app and get faster responses.
How to login or create an account to use the ChatGPT app?
- If you already have an account, click the button log in and log in with your existing email address and password;
- If not, you can easily create one using your Apple ID, Google Account, or email address;
- Then enter your name and date of birth (people aged 13 and over can use ChatGPT, but minors may need parental consent);
- Enter your phone number to verify that you are a real person;
- Once logged in, you will see a homepage where ChatGPT will warn you that its answers may be incorrect and that you should not share sensitive information, as chats may be reviewed by AI trainers.
- Press Continue to use ChatGPT.
Do you use Android?
Don’t worry. While the official mobile app for ChatGPT is only available for iOS users, an expanded rollout was announced in the official OpenAI release:
“the user D,Android, you’re next! ChatGPT will be available on your device soon. ,
So the launch of the app is interesting given OpenAI’s somewhat ambivalent approach to ChatGPT’s position in the market. Although the chatbot was launched on an experimental basis, it quickly gained a following of users who use it for everything including digital marketing.
