Could this soon be the beginning of the end for texting? The SMS standard will soon be replaced by RCS Messaging, which has been recently updated on Google Messages…
RCS Messaging now available worldwide
Completing the rollout of Rich Communication Services (RCS) messaging, Google updated its Messages app for users around the world. They have started testing end-to-end encryption in face-to-face conversations in recent years.
RCS Messaging, which Google has been rolling out gradually since the middle of last year, is the next generation of SMS messaging. With the Messages app every user on Android now has access to the RCS messaging service through their operator or directly from Google.
Google improves the messaging experience
This update provides a more interactive, modern, universal and interconnected user experience with the ability to chat via high resolution images, video, audio, Wi-Fi or data.
With end-to-end encryption, only two people able to view the content of the conversation are talking to each other through the Messages app to protect their personal information and privacy.
This new feature will be rolled out to beta testers from this November and will continue next year.
