One of the big changes to Instagram Story

In October 2021, developer and social media researcher Alessandro Paluzzi noticed that Instagram was testing longer stories.
This is considered one of the big changes for Instagram Story, and it seems like a natural next step to keep users engaged with the app. In fact, the maximum duration of the video will be one minute (60 seconds) which is no longer cut into pieces.
Testing has started!
It was long awaited. In January, Instagram head Adam Mosseri announced upcoming changes to the app’s video products in an effort to streamline the content creation and process and reduce the platform’s various tools.
As Mosseri told Decoder:
We’re looking at how we can – not just with IGTV, but across Instagram – simplify and consolidate views, as we rolled out a lot of new bets last year. I think this year we need to refocus our attention on simplicity and craftsmanship.

And it’s done! Instagram officially launched a live test of 60-second videos in Stories this November 2021. This means that longer video clips will no longer be broken into 15-second segments and played over individual story images.
