A more simplified mobile payment via WhatsApp
In partnership with National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), WhatsApp is offering a new payment service through Unified Payments Interface (UPI). Designed for India, this real-time payment system enables transactions with over 160 banks.
In 2018, NPCI started testing this feature with one million users. Now, it is deploying this “mobile bank” based on 20 million accounts, out of 400 million users, India being WhatsApp’s largest market.
7 Steps to Send Money Using UPI ID on WhatsApp
step 1: Download the latest version of WhatsApp on your Android or iOS, then make sure that the WhatsApp number is the same as the one associated with your bank account.
Second Step: Open WhatsApp on your smartphone and tap on the three vertical dots on the top right.
step 3: Tap on Payment Options > New Payment > Send to UPI ID.
step 4: Enter the UPI ID of the recipient, then click , check”
Step 5: Tap New Payment to confirm the recipient.
Step 6: Enter the amount you want to send correctly.
Step 7: You will now be asked for your UPI PIN code for verification. If the UPI PIN code entered is correct, a confirmation message will appear on your screen indicating that your payment has been completed.
As with any transaction, avoid sharing your bank details, card details and UPI PIN with anyone.
