Facebook Reels: A New Way To Make Short And Entertaining Videos
Often described as a TikTok clone, Reels first debuted on Instagram last year. Facebook only began rolling out Reels in 2021, first only in the US, then in February 2022 to more than 150 countries.
Here’s how Facebook describes the reels:
“Facebook Reels is a new way to create short and entertaining videos, to be discovered by new audiences, and to be part of cultural moments on Facebook. Effects and music can be added to your reels or you can use your own original audio. Allows you to bring your ideas to life and share them with your audience. Reels you create will appear in places like the Facebook Feed, the Reel section on Facebook, or your Reel profile. »
Facebook’s identity crisis is, in part, driven by users abandoning it to an endless supply of short videos on TikTok.
Videos on Facebook Reel are less than 30 seconds long and are presented in a vertically scrolling feed. This important part of Meta’s response to the threat of TikTok allows creators to share short-form video content on Facebook or cross-post reels from Instagram to reach a wider audience.
With the global rollout in February 2022, Facebook also introduced more creative tools and new ways for creators to monetize their content with its reel through advertising.
With Reels, you can create tons of video content:

- Save the reels as a series of clips or all at once by using a video upload from your phone’s photo library or uploading a new video during the creation process;

At the moment users can like or comment on both Instagram and Facebook reels. With the new feature, at least Facebook fans will soon be able to choose between seven emoji for their quick reply.
Users simply press and hold the “Like” button to add one of seven emoji replies, including “Like”, “Love”, “Care”, “Haha”, “Wow”, “Sad” And ” angry “.
Note that Reactions has been available as an alternative to the Like button on Facebook since 2016. Instagram, on the other hand, doesn’t have them yet.
At the moment, it is not clear when Facebook will officially roll out this feature to all accounts. But it can be a real boon for marketers, as feedback has become a habit for many Facebook users.
